"Damn, boy , you gotchu a blog ? " - Rusty Cuyler, Squidbillie
First episode of Dan Da Dan on toonami While there are a million things I'd recommend before this, that's because I'm a curmudgeon. The phrase " The boys' dick is mine ! " is used in the first episode, in a battle between a grandma ghost and alien abductors. An alien also gets bitten in the dick. So its pretty crazed and phallic and it feels like it couldn't exist without FLCL. I liked the soundtrack which was, thank god, not more of that visual rock shit or fake Japanese screamo. Instead we get fast monotonal jrap with male and female vocals. So, I dig that. The animation was also better than the other trash that's on Toonami now. Basically, even if this is a well known title, its nice to be able to watch something with a slightly more " underground " feel. Blue exorcist is after this and I was immediately like , " Blue exorcist is more boring now than it used to he " , because I don't normally watch shit like that and I've just become sadly used to it. Shaman King Tangent Incidentally I read through all of shaman king. I haven't read this since I was a wee lad. Reading it again, I realized first it is way gayer than I picked up on before. And that Hiroyuki Takei or whatever his name is has a problem that ends in -con. And finally, that I was always attracted to Faust, with his black lipstick and his tousled blonde hair , and his sullen yamikawaii chic, and his scars. As an 11 year old I was like, " Faust is so cool " and now I'm like " I would do unspeakable things to and/or on him ", and also " Wren and Yo should just fuck already ". But now that I have the skills to draft a doujinshi, I have to try to use my powers for good, not evil. Part of the reason I reread this is cause I knew it wouldn't be rejected. But I also realized that the reason shonen jump dropped this manga was probably because of the arc with the black jaguar shaman from Brooklyn. It was ... Possibly a little funky in the ol PC department. And also because of the arrival of The Holy Girl Jeanne-sama The Iron Maiden, who was probably a little over the top for shonen jump with that chastity belt. Or for anyone. Irredeemable. It also gets really weird with spirit allies that are angels integrated with sports cars and channeled by gay catholics in booty shorts in an uke/seime standoff. I read the whole series and it was very nostalgic because this was one of the first manga I ever read most of after " Magical Pokemon Journey " , " Pokemon Adventures " ( Which I still think is great ) , and " Ranma 1/2 ".
